On the morning of April the twelfth, residents of Thailand’s Lampang Province celebrated their New Year, or Songkran Festival, with some traditional food. One hundred chiefs from forty three communities joined forces to make a giant pot of Hung Ley curry, or Northern styled pork curry, which included, among other ingredients, eight hundred kilograms of pork and two hundred kilograms of spices. It took at least five hours of painstaking stirring before the one thousand kilogram pork curry was cooked and served to locals and tourists.
