On February the twentieth, an ailing Irrawaddy dolphin was found on a beach in Thailand’s Nakorn Sithammarat Province and conservationists, along with National Park staff, were called in to help. They poured water over the sick mammal and were able to revive the 1.20 meter long dolphin temporarily by making a small pool out of a rubber sheet but, unfortunately, the animal suffered a seizure and died. The dolphin is thought to have been suffering from an unidentified disease because no wounds were found. It’s the ninth dolphin found stranded in the area in the last 2 months, and most of them died before being washed up.
