On December the seventeenth, the Deputy Governor of Thailand’s Nakhon Sithamarat declared nineteen of the provinces twenty three cities to be disaster zones after continuous, heavy rainfall caused flash floods, cutting off at least four main roads, bridges, residential areas and farm land. Rescue teams have been sent to help people evacuate and move their belongings to the higher ground. Ten year old Suphakit Chaikhong is still missing after he was swept away by a flash flood. Red flags have been set up along five canals as the water spills over their banks. National parks are closed for safety and residents are being advised to listen closely to news announcements.
