On August the twenty ninth, a group of American exchange students became lost in a forest in Thailand’s Chiang Mai. They ended up stranded on the edge of a cliff above a waterfall and had to be rescued by Thai officials. Fortunately, there is cellphone network coverage around the Tad Mok Waterfall, so the students were able to call for help and rescuers tracked their location via GPS. Eleven American exchange students at Chiangmai University, aged between eighteen and twenty two, were trekking towards the waterfall at around two PM but strayed off the track and got lost. It took over five hours to locate and rescue the group.
