On June the nineteenth, Thai Facebook users shared the story of a police officer who punished a traffic violator in a rather unusual way in Thailand’s Chonburi. Police Senior Sergeant Major Umnat Phathaisong said that, while he was directing traffic, he saw a young motorcyclist not wearing a helmet and who did not carry a driver license. The young man said he rushed to pick up his mother and forgot the helmet and license and begged to do fifty pushups instead of paying a fine. Officer Umnat however, reduced it to twenty pushups, issued a verbal warning and let the biker go. His flexibility earned praise from Thai Facebook users.
