During the morning of May the eighth, firemen responded to a call about a city bus on fire in rush hour traffic in the middle of Bangkok. Fortunately no one was injured. Adul Seeta, the driver of the number forty bus, said he had smelled smoke and, as it got stronger and more acrid, he decided to ask passengers to get off the bus. Seconds later an explosion was heard from the engine compartment at the back of the bus before it burst into flames. Fire crews took fifteen minutes to extinguish the blaze. An investigation is underway.
