On April the fourth, a clip of a confrontation between beach vendors and municipal officials in Thailand’s coastal town of Krabi went viral. Officials attempted to arrest vendors, who had been hawking goods to foreign tourists at the famous Ao Nang beach, and seized their goods. The vendors resisted and attacked the officials and then accused the officials of overreacting. Officials withdrew because they were outnumbered by venders. Earlier, local government had received a number of complaints claiming that foreign tourists were being harassed by beach vendors trying to sell them food and alcohol.
