On April the first, Thai officials responded to reports of dozens of foreigners disembarking from their boat on Thailand’s Southern Lanta Island. After questioning, the fifty six people, including children, were identified as Rohingya refugees who were travelling to Malaysia but had taken shelter on the Thai island to avoid a storm. Once the storm had passed, Thai officials replenished their supplies of food and water, which had been donated by local people, and sent them on their way to Malaysia.
