On March the nineteenth, the construction site of a new Bangkok shopping center near Krung Thon Bridge was cordoned off after a cache of World War Two era bombs were excavated. Deputy national police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said the 98 BDU-33 bombs, or Bomb Dummy Units, were buried about one meter deep. They are forty five centimeters long and weigh about eleven kilograms each. Bomb disposal experts initially said they contained no explosives. They are believed to belong to the American military, and were left after the end of the war. Further investigations are underway.
