Early on March the sixth, Narcotics suppression police arrested a Thai-Indian businessman at his Bangkok residence on suspicion of financing major local and transnational drug-trafficking networks. Deputy police chief Chalermkiat Srivorakhan, who led the operation, said that Harprit Singh is wanted in connection with the arrest of at least twelve people and seizure of four hundred kilograms of methamphetamine last July. Harprit’s financial transactions allegedly show that he had transferred at least three million Baht to businesses linked to the suspects. The investigators believe that the fronts for his alleged illegal activities were tailoring and property rental businesses. About 160 million Bahts worth of Harprit's assets have been seized to date.
