On February the twenty fifth, a former Thai deputy national police chief committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a Bangkok shopping mall. A CCTV camera captured the shocking moment when eighty year old Salang Bunnag approached the glass barrier, climbed over it and plunged to his death. A hand-written note was found on his body, asking Thai people to protest against a one-meter wide dual track rail system and to support German style autobahns. His son said Slang had suffered from depression. He was investigated in 1996 relating to the extra judicial killings of six alleged drug dealers, an operation that became known as the “Suphan Buri Massacre”.
