A team of veterinarians have been vaccinating over 2,000 cattle, goats and sheep against anthrax in Thailand’s border town of Mae Sot. Local government officials have declared a 21 day, 5-km radius quarantine zone centered on Mae-Gongane town. The import of livestock from the neighboring country of Myanmar has also been suspended after at least 2 villagers from near Mae-Gongane town are thought to have been infected with anthrax after they ate goat meat from animals that had died of unknown causes in Myanmar.
