A team of Thai Ice Sculptors has won first prize at the International Ice Sculpture contest, which is part of the sixty ninth Sapporo Snow Festival in Hokkaido, Japan. Their sculpture, entitled “Cock Fighting”, reflects the rural lifestyle of many Thai people. It is the sixth time the team has won the top award. The team from Macao won second prize, and the Americans came in third. The Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Yuthasak Supasorn, expressed hope that Thailand’s participation will draw more Japanese tourists to Thailand this year, adding that this year’s sculpture showed a different aspect of Thailand.
